Pyecombe (holders of the Wellesley trophy) v Sussex County 1st team

This years Vans Agnew Trophy saw a repeat of the match up of the county men’s first team playing against Pyecombe who had successfully defended their Wellesley trophy from 2023…The weather was crisp, the wind got up and the blue skies meant that it was freezing as the sun started to drop.

The match was hard fought with swings and turns.. Pyecombe being 2.5 v 1.5 up from the morning foursome matches.
The singles in the afternoon was really tight. But was closed out by some Stella performances as the tide swung to Pyecombe in the final three holes of the last few matches.

Pyecombe won with a 7-5 margin and now can place the Vans Agnew Trophy in that trophy cabinet next to the Wellesley trophy!

Congratulations Pyecombe.
It feels like the season just started!
