MATT ALLEN WINS THE SUSSEX SENIORS CHAMPIONSHIP
Matt Allen wins the Sussex Seniors Championship
Congratulations to Matt Allen of Horsham Golf on becoming the 2024 Sussex Seniors Champion.
This year’s Championship was played at Copthorne Golf Club who, as always, were outstanding hosts. The course was presented in great condition, with swift greens and the weather, unlike 2023, provided ideal golfing conditions.
The course proved a stern challenge on both days which made Matt Allen’s first round gross score of 69 (-3) an outstanding achievement.
Day 2 saw scores slightly lower overall. Matt completed Round 2 in 74 (+2) making an overall winning gross score of 143. In second place Dean Manning (Copthorne GC) on 148 and in third place Martin Galway (Pyecombe GC) on 151.
The Handicap prize went to Charlie Reid (Beauport Park GC) on nett score 145 on countback. The Team Trophy, unsurprisingly went to Copthorne Golf represented by Dean Manning and Mark Logan.
