THE SUSSEX AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
The Competition
Sussex County General Conditions apply in this Event.
36 Hole Stroke play.
The top 16 qualifiers will play match play knockout.
The Amateur Champion will receive the Championship Trophy and a Voucher. The Runner-Up will receive the Championship Plate and a Voucher. The losing Semi-Finalists will receive vouchers. Players must change after completion of the days play.
In the event of a tie for the Championship the winner shall be decided by a play-off on holes decided by the Tournament Controller. Ties for all other places shall be determined by a count back.
Entries are limited to 60 and if oversubscribed there will be a ballot amongst the higher handicap players for the last places. The Tournament Controller may also take account of a comparison of Handicap Index numbers from General Play Cards versus Competition Cards for all players and the extent of their scoring history recorded on the WHS Platform if a ballot becomes necessary. The Tournament Controller’s decision is this matter will be final.
Entries received after the close date will not be accepted.
The Amateur Champion will be invited to represent Sussex at Woodhall Spa in the Champion of Champions weekend.
The Winning Club Team (3 players) will represent Sussex in the English Champion Club Tournament.
Qualification
Players must have a current WHS Handicap Index.
WHS Handicap Index limit: 5.0 at point of entry.
Players must be a member of a Golf Club affiliated to Sussex County Golf and that Club must be the players Home Club. Players must not have played in the Championship of another County or represented another County in the same calendar year of this Championship.
