The Competition
Sussex County General Conditions apply in this Event.
36 Hole Stroke play (18 holes each day)
In the event of a tie for the Championship the winner shall be decided by a play-off on holes decided by the Competition Committee. Ties for all other places shall be determined by a count back.
The Seniors Champion will receive the Arthur Gilligan Trophy. There will be prizes for second and third place, best a.m. gross, best p.m. gross and for first and second place for the 36 hole handicap competition. The number of prizes is dependent on number of entries. No player will receive more than one prize.
Any Club which has two or more players entering the Championship will be asked to name two to represent their Club in the Seniors Club Team Trophy and the Winners will receive the Trophy. This is decided by the best gross aggregate.
Players must change from their golf clothes after play. Jacket, collar and tie required.
The Sussex Seniors Champion will be invited to represent Sussex at Woodhall Spa in the Champion of Champions Weekend.
Entries are limited to 60. if oversubscribed there will be a ballot amongst the higher handicap players for the last places. The Tournament Controller may also take account of a comparison of Handicap Index numbers from General Play Cards versus Competition Cards for all players and the extent of their scoring history recorded on the WHS Platform if a ballot becomes necessary. The Tournament Controller’s decision is this matter will be final.
Qualification
Entries received after the close date will not be accepted.
Players must have a current WHS Handicap Index.
WHS Handicap Index limit is 12.0 at point of entry.
Players must be 55 years of age or over on the date of the Championship.
Players must be a member of a Golf Club affiliated to the Sussex County Golf and that Club must be the players Home Club. Players must not have played in the Championship of another County or represented another County in the same calendar year of this Championship.
